About Us

The Warehouse Union Local 6 – affiliated with the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) – is an organization of workers who act together to defend their rights and collectively bargain for improvements on their jobs.  Through contractual agreements, these workers have created better working conditions in a variety of industries, including:

  • Building Materials
  • Food Production
  • Medicine Manufacturing
  • On-Dock Bulk Loading
  • Port Maintenance
  • Recycling
  • Hospital Technicians
  • Waste Collection and Processing
  • Warehousing

Founded in 1937, the Warehouse Union Local 6 has since proudly sustained and defended its founding principles of democratic control of the union by its members in stern defense of workers rights, both those who are members of this union and those who are not.

Warehouse Union Local 6 is a member of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union, and the American Federation of Labor – Congress of Industrial OrganizationLocal 6, ILWU is also affiliated with the California Labor Federation and county labor councils.
